New Job, New Kits

This is a post about model kits, but it’s also not a post about model kits.

After eleven years at the same job, I finally decided to make a move. As someone who fears big, life altering changes, this was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done (and one of the biggest decisions I have ever made). But now that it’s done, I’m feeling very excited. Celebratory even. And what better way to celebrate than to indulge in my favorite hobby? And not merely by buying a couple of arbitrary kits, but by buying a couple of arbitrary kits and splurging on a very specific kit. A very special one. A very big one.

The Real Grade Nu Gundam is near universally beloved. It is considered one of the best built and best looking Real Grades of all time, and it is so tall that it gives some Master Grades a run for their money. It’s a special kit with an equally special box, and I’m not sure if I’m excited or intimidated by it.

I also got a pack of Jet Effect parts to go along with it. These can be used to “deploy” the Nu Gundam’s fin funnels by propping them up on the Action Base.

As for the other two models, I got the Gouf Custom because it’s one of the few mobile suits left on my list of “must have”’s, and I have no idea how long it might take for it to be in stock again. At least now it’s mine for the (eventual) building.

Lastly there is the Barbatos Lupus, which I honestly got because a) it was in stock, and b) I figured I’d complete the Barbatos lineup. Plus, it will force me to finally watch Season 2 of Iron Blooded Orphans (I don’t like building kits of mobile suits I’m not familiar with).

I have no idea when I’ll tackle any of these. I’ve already got an existing backlog, and changing jobs is exactly as stressful as I assumed. As always, all will be done in due time.
